CarLog
Personal product · 2026
My own iOS app for tracking every cost of a car, from fuel-ups to insurance, with automatic fuel economy, service reminders, and document expiry alerts. Live on the App Store.
Overview
CarLog keeps every cost of a car in one place: fuel, service, insurance, parking, fines, and taxes. A dashboard turns those entries into total cost, average fuel economy, cost per kilometer, and a monthly spend chart that splits fuel from everything else.
I designed, built, and shipped it solo: the Laravel API, the Flutter app with its iOS home-screen widget, the background jobs, and the App Store release, including in-app purchases.
Highlights
- ▸ Fuel economy calculated from full-tank fill-ups, handling missed fill-ups so one forgotten entry does not skew the average
- ▸ Service reminders by date or by odometer that roll forward automatically when they recur, delivered as push notifications by a daily scheduled job
- ▸ Document storage with expiry tracking, so insurance and registration renewals are flagged before they lapse
- ▸ Multiple vehicles, kilometers or miles, liters or gallons, L/100km or MPG, and any currency
- ▸ iOS quick-add widget, Apple and Google sign-in through Firebase, and a freemium model with in-app purchases
- ▸ Domain-driven Laravel 13 API with ULID keys, Horizon queues, and unit tests on the fuel-economy, reminder, and stats logic
