HomeSplit
Personal product · 2026
My own iOS app for sharing household expenses, groceries, and chores, built end to end from the Laravel API to the Flutter client and live on the App Store.
Overview
HomeSplit takes the awkward math out of living together. Roommates, couples, and families add an expense once, and the app splits it equally or by custom amounts, shows who owes whom, and settles up in a tap.
I designed, built, and shipped it solo: the Laravel API, the Flutter app, the infrastructure, and the App Store release.
Highlights
- ▸ Balance engine that nets every expense and settlement into a short list of payments: a household of n people settles in at most n − 1 transfers
- ▸ Shared grocery lists and recurring chores with rotation, kept in sync across every member of the household
- ▸ Monthly reports with category breakdowns, search, and a calendar view of spending
- ▸ Invite links with expiring tokens, Google and Apple sign-in through Firebase, and push notifications
- ▸ Multi-currency households, with an activity feed logged automatically by model observers
- ▸ Domain-driven Laravel 12 API split into nine domains, covered by PHPUnit feature tests and shipped as a Docker image
